Last 16th of July, Robin Morgan and I found ourselves trailing behind a sea of people marching through the streets in honour of Carmen, the patron of the Sea. Bemused, we watched old people and ridiculously cute chubby children bobble around to reggeaton and a middle aged Nicaraguan man miming to a keyboard.
Today I rose at 2am and walked 12km with my host family from Santander to our local church in Revillas to celebrate Carmen.
Under the stars, our journey was suprisingly quick, fun and scented (farm/motorway/fish and other curious and disgusting odours).
A cheesy snap of me lighting a candle.

Lots of fire and smoke and the burning starlight of a churros van.
Miles de Gracias Carmen.
